Upper Deck Bin Systems
For the 747-400 upper deck, space is at a premium and there’s not enough room in the OEM overhead bins to stow carry-on roller bags. To solve this problem, Heath Tecna has designed and offers two bin options for replacing the OEM pivot bin. Airlines can choose either a SBS (Shelf Bin System) or an enhanced PBS (Pivot Bin System) depending on their needs.
Both bin options offer an increase in bin volume, greater placard weight, and new aesthetics. Our bins are designed for ease of installation with minimal modification, utilizing much of the existing bin support structure. Both bin options have been certified and have been installed on over 200 aircraft for some of our major airline customers including All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, and Qantas Airways.
Features and Benefits
- Both bin types can stow a standard roller type carry-on bag, along with additional soft luggage, such as jackets, totes, and laptop bags
- The carrying placard weight increases from 40lb (18kg) to 50lb (22.7kg) for both bin styles
- For the SBS, the bin volume increases over the OEM's bin by nearly 200%
- For the PBS, the bin volume increases over the OEM's bin by over 150%
